Dennis Martinez passed away
Monday…June 5, 2006.
Dennis and I really grew up
together…from the fourth grade. Went to Rutgers together and we
shared an apartment junior and senior year. He lived just on the
other side of Highland Avenue from me in Paramus. It really hit me
hard. He was a kind and gentle soul…who unfortunately suffered
physically the last few years. He made it to the 40th
reunion.
His friends will remember him as a
great HS and college athlete. He played baseball, basketball and
soccer at PHS and he played varsity soccer at Rutgers.
He had multiple things wrong
but ultimately we think it was renal failure after many years of
being a diabetic. I was the only Paramus person (aside from his
immediate family) to attend the funeral last Thursday, June 8 at a
RC church in Kendall Park, NJ near his home. Burial was in
Piscataway. He is survived by his wife - Betty, and two sons,
David and Thomas. He and Betty had just become grandparents about
a year and half ago.
